The Philippines Implements Technology Programme in School Curriculum

The use of technology in the classroom has had a tremendously positive impact on education. As humans, we invented and developed technologies that change our lives on a daily basis. Education and learning methods have changed because of technological advancements. The internet allows people to find information and knowledge quickly and easily.

A leadership school in Bulacan, Philippines, advanced innovation in teaching 21st-century skills by redesigning its curriculum and incorporating technology into core subjects. The addition of the Computer Curricular Programme prepared students in the Philippines as early as grade school for digital literacy, ranging from basic coding to mobile app development.

The programme specialises in providing cutting-edge and comprehensive computer curriculum to teachers and students through detailed training – a benefit that will reap new opportunities for the upcoming virtual school year in an advanced, technological age. The co-curricular programme, which has been tailored to fit online distance learning, covers a wide range of software and applications from Grade 4 to Senior High School.

Aside from curricular implementation, the school hosts an annual technology day, which includes competitions, seminars, and activities aimed at increasing students’ understanding of various software programmes centred on robotics, programming, and web design.

“Although it was challenging to implement a new programme during the pandemic, we still took the leap because we believe that it would be a step closer to our vision and mission of creating leaders of today. We saw it as a solution for online distance learning to be effective. When we mould students to become leaders, they have better ownership of their actions and of their education,” he added.

Through its unique curriculum and international programmes that prepare students for college, which in turn serves as a major entry point to their chosen career paths, the school has been facilitating excellent education, character development and strong leadership culture. The school’s continuous programme, which runs from Preschool to Senior High School, emphasises holistic development and meaningful learning, as opposed to traditional education, which focuses on memorising facts.

“Changing our paradigm is important to remain relevant in our world,” said the school’s President. “If our kids are experiencing the same education that we received 20 years ago, then we are teaching them to thrive in those times, not in their future. Despite the struggles and difficulties, we must continue to innovate for the future of our students.”
